Providing Nutritional Support for Delaware Seniors
With 2020 being such a difficult year for a large portion of the senior population of Delaware, the Delaware Senior Resource Network chose to financially support organizations providing Meals on Wheels in 2020. Donations for Meals on Wheels programs were made to City Fare and Newark Senior Center in New Castle County; Modern Maturity Center in Kent County; and CHEER and Meals on Wheels Lewis-Rehoboth in Sussex County.
“The demand for meals has increased since March, so this will certainly help to feed our older neighbors,” said Erica Porter Brown, Project Director at City Fare Meals on Wheels.
Carolyn Fredricks, President and CEO of the Modern Maturity Center echoed those thoughts. “Donations are extremely important to us during these days of crisis and decreased revenue,” she said.
Meals on Wheels Delaware has seen more than a 25% increase in meals delivered in 2020 compared with 2019 highlighting the need of assisting older adults with nutritional support. The DSRN was pleased to help.
